Infrakit continue son expansion internationale

Infrakit établit une filiale à Paris

Infrakit, la solution pour la gestion de chantier infraBIM connecté permet de gérer en temps-réel le chantier avec ses données digitales et de garantir la qualité d’execution des ouvrages d’infrastructures et VRD réalisés. Les utilisateurs d’Infrakit sur le chantier peuvent consulter, échanger et visionner leur données en temps-réel permettant ainsi de réduire les délais et les erreurs de construction.

En Scandinavie, les utilisateurs d’Infrakit sont les entreprises de construction et travaux publics mais aussi les Maitrises d’Oeuvre et d’Ouvrage, telles que les municipalités, régions, autorités et concessionaires privés. Infrakit possédait déjà des filiales en Norvège et aux Pays-bas. Les filiales Infrakit ont pour rôle de promouvoir les ventes localement tout en permettant un excellent service client et support technique.

Infrakit Founder Story: From a Researcher to an Entrepreneur (Anglais)

 

Digitalization proves most useful in projects where old working methods are questioned and modernized. Infrakit, the creator of the cloud-based service for infrastructure construction, is an excellent example of this.

The story began at the university of Oulu, where the founder of Infrakit, Teemu Kivimäki, worked on his master’s thesis in a research group focused on the automation of construction. Teemu, who used to have programming as a hobby, already had a degree in mechanical engineering when he entered the university. However, the pieces started to fall into place only after the switch to the field construction.

– I had studied robotics, laser scanning as well as space technology, where I got familiar with GPS and remote sensing. During my studies at the university I got to apply all this knowledge in designing measure devices and in 3D modeling. We were doing pioneering research in the digitalization of infrastructure construction, says Kivimäki.

Kivimäki noticed that utilization CAD and 3D modeling in infrastructure construction was still in its infancy.

– In mechanical engineering, where I come from, millimeter accuracy in 3D modeling is the norm, so the amount of paperwork in construction came as a surprise to me, he describes.

The information management needs came up in several research projects, and in 2010 Kivimäki made the decision to commercialize his research.

I was already familiar with entrepreneurial life through a mobile game company that I had founded with my friends, and the next step felt natural. First I called Destia who had participated in one of our projects and asked if they were willing to pay for the creation of a system that was designed during the research.

Besides Destia Kivimäki contacted Novatron, a company that manufactures GPS devices and machine control devices for work machinery and made a proposition of creating an interface for the control system of work machines. The collaboration lead to the founding of Infrakit, a centralized information storage and cloud service for work sites.

The cloud service streamlines information management

According to Kivimäki, plans are often updated little by little during a construction project, and in bigger projects changes to the plans are made daily. Earlier this would have meant that there were several versions of the plans, which made updating them more challenging. From an information management point of view this was laborious and slow, and resulted in expensive mistakes in construction.

Thanks to Infrakit, all the information is stored in the same place where they can be transferred directly to the work machines. The plans of the project are uploaded to the service in an open file format, after which they can be inspected in the map view or in 3D.

– Since Infrakit is a SaaS service, it can be used in a browser as well as in a mobile application, which makes it really practical to use in the field. Users only need credentials and an hour’s introduction to the service, Kivimäki explains.

‘Back in the day the measure report was delivered to the project owner with six months’ delay, but Infrakit makes it possible to monitor project progress in real time.’

The service also makes it easier to produce project documentation during construction. The documentation consists of measurements made by the work machines and the photographs taken by the foremen, among other things.

– This way we can maintain accuracy in our construction work and avoid mistakes. The digitalization of infrastructure projects results in savings of 20 % compared to traditional working methods.

It has been a great pleasure to see many of our customers around the world in one place. There has been surprisingly many familiar faces not only from Finland but also from Norway and Holland where Infrakit offices are located. At trade fairs people have time to sit down and discuss possibilities for future co-operation. And those who know us already have familiarized themselves with Infrakit’s newest features. Good news is that the knowledge of cloud services and of the possibilities they offer has increased and surprisingly many new people have visited our stand knowing already what Infrakit stands for. InterGEO is also a great place to meet our integration partners, the big international surveying hardware companies.

As an international corporation the fair has been a great opportunity for our employees from different countries to meet each other. Meet here our newest colleagues account managers Tiny Nuiten from Netherlands and Aki Vänttinen from Finland.

The benefits of using Infrakit in euros (Anglais)

In this blog post I will present a simple calculation of concrete savings resulting from the surveying properties of Infrakit using an example project.

Infrakit increases the efficiency of surveying and data management of the construction site significantly. Below are presented three concrete ways how Infrakit can be utilized, which have proven to be effective on construction sites of Destia, Skanska and YIT. As the example project I chose a fictive 80 million euro road construction project. The duration is 3 years.

Nous sommes très heureux de vous informer que le salon Intermat fut un réel succès pour Infrakit. Nous tenons à remercier toutes les personnes qui sont venues nous rendre visite sur notre stand, et qui ont écouté attentivement nos présentations et conférences. Ce fut une superbe opportunité de vous rencontrer et nous espérons vous revoir très vite dans les semaines et mois qui arrivent!

Intermat, le salon international de la construction et des infrastructures se tiendra du 23 au 28 avril 2018 à Paris Nord Villepinte. Intermat accueille 183 000 visiteurs et 1 500 exposants présentant une offre de matériels, équipements et solutions pour la construction dédiés aux grands chantiers, aux Travaux Publics et au Bâtiment.

New from the Benelux office! (Anglais)

Infrakit B.V. has a new office! We have moved to Wiltonstraat 36-40, 3905 KW Veenendaal. The relocations was necessary to support further expansion plans we have for Infrakit in the Benelux. Customer base is growing in Netherlands and also expansion into Belgium will take place. This required better and more office space as well.

We also want to take the opportunity to introduce one of our dealers to you. Infrakit has appointed DIS Digital Infra Solutions as dealer and support organisation. DIS will sell Infrakit and has all the knowledge to give support on all machine control systems. They also will setup training for Infrakit and can help you with other related issues you might have in the process towards your digital worksite. You can find all necessary information on their website: www.disinfra.nl.

Infrakit is The Open InfraBIM cloud service. So if you are in a need of good BIM tools for your infra project, please don’t hesitate to contact us! Open means that Infrakit uses open formats, like LandXML, DWG and DXF and we are open to all other cloud services like for example the different clouds of Trimble, Leica, Topcon, Moba, etc. We also are open to other software you already use, because we can connect Infrakit to these other software applications you have in use in your company. Ease of Use Update – Infrakit 3.3.0 (Anglais)

Hello everyone!

I am excited to tell you that new updates came to Infrakit! We got a big load of new features to make your user experience more convenient and easier.

In version 3.3.0, Admins get much greater access to edit projects, they can see clearly who has access to the project and can add/remove members having access to it. These features are very useful when you have periods for competing best contractors for the project or having end checkup before moving them into your archive. We don’t want files changing or being removed during these processes.

We also added more value for project managers to allow foremen to explore file tab and read files freely, without changing them and allowing admins to search vehicles by machine ID. We want you to have great control of what is happening in your projects while making it easy and fast for you to find required information to make the best decisions in seconds.

Also to improve the quality checking, we made a very clean and clear log points panel tree view to get instant indications for progress and results. Also you can create log point PDF reports for all of the paper loving people.

Connecting offline and online always brings challenges, but Infrakit makes it easier and more comfortable and communication clearer. We look forward to taking infra construction into next level!

InterGEO brought worlds together (Anglais)

Companies in the land surveying field gathered at the InterGEO trade fair in Berlin on 26th – 28th of September to showcase their latest software, methods and tools. There were a lot more visitors than last year.

We had a booth at the fair where our team had the chance to tell people about the innovative way Infrakit makes it possible to monitor and manage construction sites. The booth bustled with people who were interested in learning more about what we do. Our booth was bigger than last year, but there was not that much more space because we had so many visitors.

We want to thank InterGEO and its partners, our amazing Infrakit team and everyone who came by to say hello!

Next year the InterGEO trade fair is held in Frankfurt on 16th – 18th of October, see you there!
