Destias Marja-Terttu Sikiö: miljöfrågor och hållbarhet är allt viktigare teman i planeringen av infrastrukturprojekt

Infrastruktursektorn är en av de mest förorenande industrierna i världen. Huvuddelen av utsläppen sker efter driftsättning, men även själva konstruktionen påverkar miljön.

Oavsett bransch är miljöfrågor och hållbarhetsmål ämnen som blir allt viktigare i samtalen och ribban har lagts högt. För att uppnå dessa mål och minska utsläppen inom infrastrukturbyggen innebär det att nya tekniska och materialmässiga alternativ måste undersökas, och att rutiner i viss utsträckning behöver ändras. Digitalisering förväntas också bidra till att minska miljöpåverkan av byggen. Finland har en bra utgångspunkt för detta, eftersom stora ansträngningar har lagts ned på digitalisering av infrastruktur under de senaste 10 åren.

För att uppnå hållbarhet i infrastrukturbyggande behöver vi tänka utifrån ett helhetsperspektiv. Destia har till exempel en lång tradition av att värna om social hållbarhet, som bland annat arbetarskydd och de anställdas välbefinnande. Hållbarhet är dock ett ämne som breder ut sig mer och mer inom sektorn, och det pratas alltmer om utsläpp och övergripande miljöpåverkan generellt.

Vi intervjuade Destias Marja-Terttu Sikiö för att ta reda på hur hon ser på samtalen kring ämnet och vad man kan skulle kunna göra för att skapa förändring.

Hur ser du på den nuvarande situationen inom byggsektorn?

Jag ser den som mycket positiv i den meningen att miljöfrågor och hållbarhet, som klimatarbete, i allt större utsträckning redovisas i projekt, inklusive kommunala utvecklingsprojekt. För Destia har sociala hållbarhetsfrågor, som arbetarskydd och de anställdas välbefinnande, länge varit viktiga teman.

Ser du något i dagsläget som står i vägen för eller fördröjer utvecklingen?

Jag tror att det främsta hindret är brist på kunskap och djärva experiment på en praktisk nivå. När det gäller stora projekt och långvariga strukturer måste vi naturligtvis vara försiktiga. För att utvecklas inom sektorn behövs fler exempel på framgångsrika projekt, såväl som utmaningar och områdesförbättringar. Vi behöver också fler företag, kommuner och människor som är öppna för förändringar och vill vara föregångare.

Hur tror du att situationen kommer att se ut i framtiden?

Jag tror att det kommer att finnas ett ännu bredare urval av krav och perspektiv på hållbarhet som måste tas i beräkning i nya projekt. Nya metoder kommer först att införas i större banbrytande projekt, till exempel alliansprojekt. De erbjuder en bra möjlighet att göra saker på ett nytt sätt, med nära samarbete mellan de olika aktörerna. De bästa metoderna kommer sedan att spridas till andra projekt som ett resultat av föregångarnas framgångar.

Vilka tror du är nyckelfaktorerna för att skapa förändring och kontrollera utsläppen?

Nyckeln är att utveckla och använda oss av färdigheter, kompetenser och nya metoder genom pilotprojekt. Tack vare digitalisering har vi dessutom möjligheten att avsevärt utöka kunskapsbasen. Med avseende på transportutsläpp så sker merparten av utsläppen från transportinfrastruktur under användning. Det gäller även för spårvägsprojekt. Dessa utsläpp kommer att minskas genom framsteg inom fordonsteknik och elproduktionsmetoder.

Bortsett från driftsfasen genereras merparten av utsläppen från ett fåtal material, såsom stål, betong och asfalt. Dessa utsläpp kan minskas genom användningen av återvunna råmaterial. Valet av arbetsmaskiner och transportutrustning har också betydelse. Mer integration av datainsamling över hela produktionskedjan och användningen av dessa data för planering och genomförande av utsläppsminskningar behövs fortfarande på arbetsplatserna.

For release 3.8.2 of Infrakit OFFICE, we focused on making features that help manage all project documents in Infrakit, not only the ones you would visualize on the map. Together with that, we have enhanced the 3D BIM viewing. In other words, these features enable you to work faster,  collaborate better, and be the star of your project! 

Optimize your data management with new CDE features

It’s no big secret that data management is the key to successful projects. This time we focused to enhance our CDE features by adding you an opportunity to set and manage properties for your files. 

Was it either file categories of Design Disciplines, Model maturities, or phases of the project, property management saves you a ton of time. Add your custom property as a number, text value, or in a list of options.

Simplify your mountain of information 

Infraprojects tend to have quite an overwhelming amount of files… Thus, filtering and sorting out the ones you don’t need in the UI brings simplicity.  

To enable this step by step, we developed another CDE feature, which enables you to make any file or folder dispappear from the visualization apps.  As an example, you can use the Infrakit as single source of truth platform for all the project files. Store and manage the revisioning of the native drawings that are not meant for map projection. With this feature those files are not bugging the users of the Map page. 

We also introduced handy left-click menus on web UI, make sure you don’t miss that one!

The 3D view now also enables you to see the station numbers of alignments, enabling finding the right spot on the project even handier. On top of these, the new version enables you to select multiple point clouds to be visualized at the same time!
